Using your existing Satellite receiver at another home with a new dish?

not a satalite technician but i will give it a go:
the dish just picks up the signal, its the decoder(box) that sorts out the unscrambling. So as long as the dish is pointed the right way it doesnt really matter about brands.. i once built a receiver out of a “WOK” and sat cable.
