Satellite Dish Covers: One that looks like a window mount air condtioner ?

satellite dish
TomWilliam asked:

My brother lives in an apartment complex, doesn’t want to spend a fortune on cable, but his apartment complex doesn’t allow him to mount a satellite dish on the side of the building. It does allow him to have an air conditioner in the window. What I need to find is an enclosure that looks like an air conditioner window box, but can mount a Dish or DirectTV dish inside and still get a decent signal.
Can anyone help?

I do not know about such a cover. I have installed systems inside the room of a south facing window (here it must point to the south). The glass will not stop the satellite signal. As with any satellite installation, there will need to be a clear shot to the south (no trees, and such). Being inside the house should cause no reception trouble, if the signal is not obstructed by curtains, and trees. Does he have a balcony? If so you could go with a tripod temporary mount, out on the balcony. As long as the dish is not actually mounted to the building, there probably is not a problem.
